Data Recovery
& Data Destruction
We recover data from damaged or non-functional devices – and when data needs to be securely destroyed, we ensure its verifiable removal with a destruction report.
Has your hard drive, NAS or RAID array failed? We help recover data from damaged or non-functional storage. We recover data from hard drives, SSDs, RAID arrays, NAS devices, flash media and mobile phones. Our services are available to companies and private clients alike.
Do you need sensitive data destroyed securely and verifiably? We provide professional destruction of data on electronic media with the emphasis on making it unrecoverable. We choose the appropriate method according to the type of media and the required level of assurance. Every destruction is documented in a report.
When to contact us
- A drive, computer or phone has stopped working and the data is not backed up
- A NAS or RAID array failed to rebuild after an outage or a drive replacement
- You have accidentally deleted files or formatted a drive or memory card
- A device has been damaged by a fall, water or a power surge
- You need to retrieve data from an old or non-functional device
- You are decommissioning equipment and want to prepare it for further use
How data recovery works
We run diagnostics
First we assess the condition of the media and establish the extent of the damage and what data can be recovered. Based on the result, we propose the next steps and estimate the scope of work.
We recover the data
Depending on the type of damage, we choose the appropriate recovery procedure and use the tools of our laboratory to safely retrieve as much of the available data as possible.
We hand the data over
You receive the recovered data on new media, together with an overview of what could be retrieved. The original media is then returned to you.
Secure data erasure with a report
When you decommission a device, pass it on or prepare it for further use, it is important that none of the original data remains on it. We securely remove the data using a method appropriate to the type of media, and we issue a report on the erasure for every job – for example for audits, internal records or your clients.
From our casework
A RAID 5 array failed to rebuild after one of the drives was replaced and the data became inaccessible. Diagnostics showed that the drives themselves were working and the problem lay in the reconstruction of the array, not in a hardware fault.
We first imaged all the drives, used the images to determine the original parameters of the RAID array and then reassembled it in specialised software. We handed the recovered data over to the client without any further work on the original drives.
Frequently asked questions
What are the chances of recovering the data?
It depends on the type of media, the extent of the damage and what happened to the device after the fault occurred. After diagnostics we can better estimate what data is reachable and what approach makes sense.
What should I do when a drive or other storage stops working?
Stop using the device, do not attempt repeated repairs or recovery tools and, if possible, disconnect it. Further writes or inexpert interventions can reduce the chances of recovery.
Can you handle RAID and NAS storage as well?
Yes. We handle RAID and NAS failures, including situations where an array fails to rebuild after a drive replacement, an outage or a configuration error.
Can you recover data from a phone or another mobile device?
In some cases, yes. The options depend on the type of device, the extent of the damage and the security in place. We assess the realistic options after basic diagnostics.
Can data be securely erased with the device staying in use?
Yes. Depending on the type of device, we choose a suitable method of secure erasure so that the device can be used further, passed on or removed from internal records.
Will I receive confirmation of the secure erasure?
Yes. We issue a report on every erasure, which can be used for internal records, audits or as proof of the procedure for your clients.
How long does data recovery take and how much does it cost?
It depends on the type of media, the extent of the damage and the complexity of the recovery. After diagnostics we will propose the next steps and estimate the scope of work and the price.
